Hiring a Virtual Assistant (VA) can be a step into the unknown if it's not a service you're familiar with. VAs can step in and ease the burden in a whole host of situations both personally and professionally. Time is a precious resource and striking the right balance at home and at work can be difficult. Having a VA on hand to spread the load or just focus on those tasks you're less keen on or don't have the skills to do can transform the way you feel (yes, really!). 'But how?' you might wonder.

Virtual Assistants are self-employed, handle all their own expenses and all their own taxes. There are therefore no search and hire fees, there's no lengthy CV sifting, short-listing and interview process, and there are none of the costs associated with taking on an employee (e.g. National Insurance, holiday pay, sickness pay, office equipment etc.) leaving you to be more agile in responding to the needs of your business and/or your personal life, and flex as those needs change.
With the current Government advice to work from home where possible, bringing an extra pair of hands on board to crack on with the admin that may have been building on a virtual basis fits rather well! A VA can be up and running with your tasks/projects in a very short space of time and you'll only pay for the time you use making it a low-risk and affordable option for getting the support you need.

Client satisfaction is paramount as long-term relationships are the best for VAs and their clients so the motivation to focus on the task in hand is inherent.
Working with a number of systems/tasks regularly increases a VAs skillset to make them speedy and efficient when undertaking tasks that could take someone less experienced or familiar with it much longer. When you're mail merging several times a week for example, it's easy, but when you do it once a year it takes a little longer and there's more opportunity for a hiccup!
