This might be a little different to how you've tried to get things done before, but it could be hugely beneficial to you and/or your business. Here are 5 good reasons why!...
5 reasons why you should hire a Virtual Assistant (VA)
Hiring a Virtual Assistant (VA) can be a step into the unknown if it's not a service you're familiar with. VAs can step in and ease the burden in a whole host of situations both personally and professionally. Time is a precious resource and striking the right balance at home and at work can be difficult. Having a VA on hand to spread the load or just focus on those tasks you're less keen on or don't have the skills to do can transform the way you feel (yes, really!). 'But how?' you might wonder.
Hiring a Virtual Assistant (VA) can:
1. Save you money
Virtual Assistants are self-employed, handle all their own expenses and all their own taxes. There are therefore no search and hire fees, there's no lengthy CV sifting, short-listing and interview process, and there are none of the costs associated with taking on an employee (e.g. National Insurance, holiday pay, sickness pay, office equipment etc.) leaving you to be more agile in responding to the needs of your business and/or your personal life, and flex as those needs change.
With the current Government advice to work from home where possible, bringing an extra pair of hands on board to crack on with the admin that may have been building on a virtual basis fits rather well! A VA can be up and running with your tasks/projects in a very short space of time and you'll only pay for the time you use making it a low-risk and affordable option for getting the support you need.
2. Make you money
If you can outsource the tasks where either your time or that of your team is not currently adding value, you stand to focus more on the things that do. The administration that comes along with running a business can be draining and often is the element that is less enjoyable, not to mention less profitable. If your time is better spent pursuing new business or delivering more to your clients - why let the admin get you down? Outsourcing the mundane tasks that are required can allow you to grow your business by freeing you out to get out there and do it!
As a personal client, the time a VA spends researching the best prices for your home utilities contracts for example, is often more than paid for by the saving your decision on that research will make!
3. Increase productivity and efficiency
Virtual Assistants will typically serve a number of clients at any one time. Time tracking is normal practice, and away from a busy office environment they can focus on the task in hand. There's no chatting over the coffee machine or catching up with colleagues about what they did at the weekend, they just get things done! Client satisfaction is paramount as long-term relationships are the best for VAs and their clients so the motivation to focus on the task in hand is inherent.
Working with a number of systems/tasks regularly increases a VAs skillset to make them speedy and efficient when undertaking tasks that could take someone less experienced or familiar with it much longer. When you're mail merging several times a week for example, it's easy, but when you do it once a year it takes a little longer and there's more opportunity for a hiccup!
4. Give you more 'you' time
With all the 'stuff to do' that life and/or running a business can bring, freeing up your time to do the things you do best and enjoy can be invaluable. The freedom that shedding that administrative burden brings can be very liberating! Whether it's spending quality time with your family, focussed and productive time at work, or allowing a little time for you to take up a new hobby, we should never underestimate the time we need for ourselves - we get one life, this is not a dress rehearsal..
5. Give you flexibility
Some types of business operate with 'feast or famine' cycles for a number of different reasons. The current Global Pandemic is a great example - you may be much quieter than normal, or indeed busier. Maybe you've had to let staff go so are struggling with the workload. Getting staffing levels right during these times can be tricky, and expensive, so VAs offer a fabulously flexible approach to resourcing your business at a level that suits you and your current trading state. With no complex HR issues around changing contract terms to suit the ebb and flow of administration tasks, a VA really can be your new best friend!
Similarly at home some times of the year are busier than others. Whether you've got a busy social calendar, or are getting the children ready to go back to school and need some extra support with the day-to-day to free up your time, a VA can be on-hand to step into the breach and make life easier by rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in.
